12 Fun Things to Do in Copenhagen at Night
1. See what events are on at the Reffen Street Food Market
Reffen, nestled in the industrial Refshaleøen neighbourhood, is more than just a food market, it's a lively creative hub. Set in a former shipyard with repurposed shipping containers, beach chairs, and sandy areas, the market has an exciting atmosphere.
With over 50 food stalls of global flavours, it's a fun spot to go for dinner. But what really makes it stand out, is its ever-changing lineup of events, from free concerts to ice-skating discos.
Check their events to see what's going on at night.
2. Enjoy a nightcap at Duck & Cover
After a busy evening in Copenhagen, head to Duck & Cover for a laidback nightcap. This cozy bar in Vesterbro offers a cool atmosphere to wind down, with its dim lighting and vintage Scandinavian decor.
Whether you're in the mood for a feature cocktail or looking to explore Scandinavia's signature spirit, akvavit, the friendly bartenders are ready to guide you through the options. It was our favourite bar in the city.

3. Watch Tivoli Gardens transform from day to night
Tivoli Gardens is one of Copenhagen's most enchanting attractions, and there's no better time to visit than when the sun begins to set. Watching the park transition from day to night, with thousands of lights illuminating the gardens, fountains, and rides, is nothing short of magical.
As the second-oldest amusement park in the world, stepping into the park feels like being transported to another time, with over 30 classic rides, nostalgic carnival games, and an atmosphere that evokes childhood memories.
We loved riding the vintage ferris wheel and playing the analog/mechanical games, like balloon darts, whack-a-mole, and roll-a-ball horse races.
🎡 Buy your Tivoli entrance ticket, or, if you love rides, buy a pass with unlimited rides.4. Listen to vinyl and drink cocktails at bird
If you’re looking for an intimate, yet lively spot to unwind, bird. is a great choice. Ranked #77 on the World’s Best Bars list, it has a unique atmosphere that feels like one part Tokyo listening room, one part local hangout.
The cocktail menu features clarified pre-batched drinks that are smooth and well-balanced, and the space is designed with soft textures, subtle colours, and a custom sound system that brings the vinyl records to life. We were especially excited when a Soichi Terada album came on.
5. Visit Copenhagen Contemporary on Thursday Eve
Spend your evening immersed in art at Copenhagen Contemporary. Set in a former industrial warehouse in Refshaleøen, this cutting-edge gallery features large-scale installations from world-renowned artists and emerging talent.
The highlight? James Turrell's installation, Aftershock - it was a sensory overload that blew us away.
Thursday evenings are the perfect time to visit, as the gallery is open until 9 PM, offering a quieter atmosphere. Just make sure to arrive with enough time to explore - installations like Aftershock close 30 minutes before the gallery shuts its doors.
6. Party in the Meatpacking District
If you’re looking for an electric night out, Copenhagen’s Meatpacking District is the place to be. This former industrial area has transformed into a nightlife hotspot, with restaurants, bars and clubs buzzing well into the early hours.
Start your evening at Kødbyens Fiskebar, a lively seafood restaurant housed in a former butcher shop. The atmosphere is fun as friends gather to hang out, eat fresh fish dishes and drink wine. When it's warm, they open their terrace.
After easing into your night at Kødbyens Fiskebar, explore the surrounding area to find bars and clubs like ABEN Brewery and Jolene Bar.
For something different, check out event listings on Resident Advisor. We found a Summer Jazz Festival afterparty at H15 Scene this way. Or, simply wander down Slagtehusgade Street and spontaneously pick a place that calls out to you.
7. Listen to live music at Christiania Jazz Club
Nestled in Freetown Christiania, Copenhagen’s iconic hippie enclave, Christiania Jazz Club is a unique place to experience the local music scene. Open since 1999 in a graffiti-adorned building and run by volunteers, this intimate venue embodies the neighbourhood’s free spirit and creativity.
Jazz lovers can catch performances every Wednesday and Friday in an unpretentious setting. Be sure to bring cash (the venue is cash-only) and arrive at least 15 minutes early to grab a good seat.

11. Dine at the quirky Baka d'Busk
Baka d'Busk brings a fun energy with its friendly service and upbeat music, making it feel less like a restaurant and more like a joyous affair. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed - not only by the complimentary shot to kick things off but by the playful yet elegant tasting menu that followed.
Baka d'Busk creates innovative vegetarian dishes that are as creative as they are delicious, all without taking itself too seriously.
Open until midnight, it's a must-visit for food enthusiasts wanting to experience Copenhagen's dynamic culinary scene.
