10. Kødbyens Fiskebar

Kick off your evening in the lively Meatpacking District with dinner and drinks at Kødbyens Fiskebar. Housed in a former butcher shop, this buzzy seafood spot offers a fresh, exciting atmosphere to start the night.

If the weather’s nice, grab a seat on their terrace and enjoy expertly prepared seafood paired with chilled white wine. We loved the industrial feel of the space, the people-watching and the quality of the dishes - it's even listed in the Michelin Guide.

With groovy tunes like Vincent Montana setting the mood, it’s the perfect place to ease into the evening. Plus, the Meatpacking District is packed with bars, clubs and late-night spots, so you can easily continue your night out.

Reserve your table at Kødbyens Fiskebar.

9. AIRE Ancient Baths Copenhagen

AIRE Spa is set inside the former Carlsberg Brewery

AIRE Spa immediately earns cool points for its incredible location in the former Carlsberg Brewery. This luxurious bathhouse is housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century industrial building, and its ambience evokes the tranquillity of an ancient temple.

Soft Middle Eastern music fills the air as you unwind in a variety of thermal baths, including a hot pool, a saltwater pool, two body-temperature pools and cold plunges. The no-noise and no-phone policy ensures everything stays blissfully calm, allowing you to fully relax.

We opted for the Escape Together 60' package, which included a one-hour massage, 75 minutes in the thermal baths, and a glass of bubbly or juice. Towels, robes, and water shoes are provided, so all you need to bring is a bathing suit.

Book your spa experience at AIRE.

8. Sonny Cafe

Sonny Cafe

For a laidback, local brunch experience, Sonny Cafe is the place to be. Its minimalist, yet inviting atmosphere attracts a stylish crowd who come for homemade dishes and Danish La Cabra coffee.

We enjoyed our Sonny cold-pressed juice and open-faced sandwich with avocado, poached egg and herbs on rye toast. It's freshly made in their micro-bakery.

Sonny has two locations, one in the centre and one in Frederiksberg.

Cisterns Gallery

Tucked beneath the greenery of Søndermarken Park, Cisterns Gallery is one of Copenhagen’s most captivating hidden gems.

Once a water reservoir, this underground space has been transformed into an atmospheric art gallery unlike anything we've seen. With no natural daylight, the setting has a mysterious and immersive quality that adds to the experience of seeing contemporary art.

When we visited, Taryn Simon’s, Start Again the Lament, filled the space with haunting songs, echoing through the chambers as we followed a softly lit path. It felt like an otherworldly experience.

See what exhibition is on.

6. Christiania Jazz Club

Christiania Jazz Club

Tucked in the heart of Freetown Christiania, Copenhagen’s independent hippie enclave, Christiania Jazz Club is a one-of-a-kind spot for live music. Open since 1999 and run by volunteers, this funky space in a graffiti-covered building reflects the neighbourhood's creative spirit.

They host reasonably priced jazz shows every Wednesday and Friday.

🎷 Top Tip: Bring cash (it's a cash only venue) and arrive at least 15 minutes early to snag a good seat.

5. Duck & Cover

Duck & Cover

Duck & Cover perfectly captures Copenhagen’s blossoming cocktail scene. Tucked away in the hip Vesterbro neighbourhood, this cozy bar has earned recognition from the World's Best Bars team. It was our favourite bar we visited in the city.

With its dim lighting, vintage Scandinavian furniture and laidback atmosphere, it feels like a cool hangout with friends.

The friendly bartender made our visit even better, guiding us through a tasting of different types of akvavit, Scandinavia's signature spirit. Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a timelessly stylish place to unwind, Duck & Cover is a must-visit.

4. Gentofte Loppemarked Sunday Flea Market

For chic second-hand treasures at affordable prices, head to Gentofte Loppemarked Sunday Flea Market, one of the largest in Copenhagen. Located in an affluent area a bit further north, it’s easy to reach by train and well worth the trip.

Once there, you’ll be greeted by endless racks of clothing sold by fashionable locals in the park. With so many options, it can be overwhelming, but it’s a goldmine for unique finds. While the market is mostly women’s clothing, you’ll also stumble upon housewares and a few men’s items.

I scored a retro Givenchy sweater, a striped Isabel Marant shirt, vegan leather Proenza Schouler pants, and a Calvin Klein Jeans cardigan, all at great prices.

The market runs every Sunday from mid-April to early October.

3. Baka d'Busk

Baka d'Busk is everything you want in a plant-based restaurant: delicious and full of personality. Its lively atmosphere, friendly servers and fun music create an easygoing feel. It was recommended to us by the Noma team, giving it even more cool points.

Our meal kicked off with a complimentary shot, followed by an elegant yet playful tasting menu that impressed us from the start.

What makes it so cool is its ability to serve impressive vegetarian dishes without taking itself too seriously. It's a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience Copenhagen's innovative dining scene.

Book your table at Baka d'Busk.

2. Reffen Street Food Market

Reffen Street Food Market

Reffen Street Food Market, located in the industrial Refshaleøen neighbourhood, is an eclectic open-air spot that feels like something straight out of Berlin.

Set in a former shipyard, its alternative atmosphere is enhanced by repurposed shipping containers, beach chairs and sandy areas.

With over 50 food stalls offering global cuisine, it's a food lover’s dream, but what makes it really stand out is its dynamic lineup of events. From free outdoor concerts featuring legends like Marcos Valle to winter ice skating discos, there's always something exciting happening.

It’s not just a place to eat, but a place to experience the pulse of Copenhagen's creative scene.

1. La Banchina

La Banchina

La Banchina takes the crown as the coolest spot on our list. Nestled in the offbeat Refshaleøen neighbourhood, this bohemian, beach shack-inspired cafe is the most happening place to swim in the canal.

The crowd is casually chic, and the atmosphere is magnetic - it's one of those places where you just want to linger all day. Hang back with locals and travellers with a refreshing juice, natural wine or bite to eat.

Spending a sunny day here is a must-do in Copenhagen, but if you're visiting during the colder months, book their private sauna to warm up and take a plunge.

We hope enjoyed these cool places in Copenhagen!
